How renting on e.closet works
On e.closet you rent clothes directly from the people who own them. Find a piece, message the owner, pick a rental length at her flat price, choose local handoff, shipping or courier, wear it, and send it back. You pay with Venmo, PayPal, card or Apple Pay.

1. Find something
Browse everything, or start from an occasion such as prom, formal or wedding guest. Filter by size, color and brand. Each listing has the owner's photos, the size, the condition, and the rental and sale prices.
2. Message the owner
Every rental request comes with a message thread. Use it to ask for measurements, how the piece fits, and how you'd like to get it. Owners accept or decline requests, so you'll know where you stand before anything ships.
3. Choose a rental length
Owners set one flat price for each rental length they offer: 2, 4, 5, 7, 14 or 30 days. There's no per-day math: you pay the flat price for the length you pick. Make sure the dates cover delivery, your event, and a day of buffer.
4. Choose delivery
Every option the owner allows shows at checkout:
| Option | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Local handoff | Meet the owner and take it from her | Last-minute plans, nearby closets |
| Shipping | Posted with tracking, with a prepaid return label in the box | Anything farther away |
| Courier | Door to door within the same city | Same-city pieces you'd rather not ship |
5. Pay
Pay with Venmo, PayPal, card or Apple Pay. The price at checkout is the price you pay, and any rental credits you've earned come off automatically.
6. Return it
Send it back the way it came: with the prepaid label for shipped rentals, or by handoff for local ones. Then mark it returned in the app so you both know it's on its way. If the listing asks for dry cleaning before return, do that first.
If something goes wrong
- It's not what was listed. If an item arrives materially different from its listing, such as a different size than listed, undisclosed damage or the wrong item, file a claim in the app with photos. Shipped items have a short reporting window after delivery; local handoffs have 24 hours.
- It never ships. If the owner misses the shipping deadline shown at checkout, you're refunded in full automatically.
- It's lost in the mail. A lost or undelivered shipment is investigated and refunded in full.
- You damage it or return it late. Normal wear is expected. Damage beyond that, and late returns, are charged under e.closet's Rental Protection Policy.
Fit preference and change of mind aren't refundable when the listing was accurate, so message the owner before you book. The full rules are in e.closet's Return & Refund Policy and Rental Protection Policy, linked in the site footer.
